Call for Papers

The 5th East African Astronomical Society Annual workshop will be held from June 29-July 03, 2015, in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, under the theme “Astronomy for the Better Life of the Society.” Host organizers are Entoto Observatory and Research Center (EORC), East African Regional Office of Astronomy for Development (ROAD), Ethiopian Ministry of Science and Technology (MoST), Ethiopian Ministry of Education (MoE),

The purpose of workshop is to strengthen capacity building in areas of Astronomy and Astrophysics and Space Sciences in general and to serve as a forum for astronomers and astrophysicists and STEM practitioners transfer knowledge and experience to young engineers and scientists in particular. The Annual workshop is also planned to induce an opportunity for exchange of existing and emerging developments in astronomy and space science on research and development, education, space exploration, space-based downstream applications, and sharing resources for the best use of the regional community.

During the workshop Scientific paper presentations and hand on training activities on optical and radio astronomy, spectroscopy, data reduction and analysis, and night observation will be conducted.

The 5th EAAS annual workshop Organizing Committee is delighted to extend its invitation to all interested Scientific Community to submit papers on the following thematic areas:.

  • Solar system and exo-planets
  • Stellar Astrophysics
  • High energy astrophysics and Astroparticles
  • Cosmology
  • Galaxies and Interstellar medium
  • Cultural Astronomy (astronomy and world heritage)
  • Astronomy Education/outreach
  • Space Science and Technology

Deadline for Abstract Submission: 25 May 2015

Final Paper Submission: 20 June 2015
