EORC Hosts the 4th Round Industry-University Forum Consultation Meeting 

The 4th round Industry-University forum consultation meeting was conducted from 11- 13 August, 2016 at Semien Hotel, Addis Ababa. This consultation meeting was hosted by Entoto Observatory and Research Center (EORC). During the meeting, 22 participants from different universities and institutes were attended.

The forum was initiated by INSA and established in 2015 by founding members including Information Network Security Agency (INSA), Entoto Observatory and Research Center (EORC), Addis Ababa University (AAU), Adama Science and Technology University (ASTU), Bahir Dar University, Jimma University (JU), Mekelle University (MU) and Ethiopian Mapping Agency (EMA).

The Industry-University forum mainly focuses on geospatial information and technology areas that aim to create platform of collaboration to enhance and establish strong relationship among the collaborative entities from geospatial science and technology perspectives. Thus, the objectives of the forum are to generate project ideas and practical research projects on high priority issues in Geospatial areas and conduct research jointly; to mobilize resources, share data's, research labs and materials; to plan and implement professional development and capacity building together and to provide support to policy makers, planners and senior managers with tools and information necessary for them to take thoughtful informed decisions.

The forum was opened by welcoming speech of Dr. Solomon Belay, EORC's Director, and conducted for 3 days. The objective of the consultation meeting was to review and discusses the major achievements, challenges, and moving forward to realize the goal of the forum.  In addition, the status of the ongoing research projects were presented and profound discussion was conducted. On top of that, the newly identified research proposal projects were endorsed during the consultation meeting. The round-table discussion was concluded by making decisions, setting strategies and the way forward on how to proceed for implementing the newly proposed projects and strengthen the existing collaborations. The forum will be conducted and hosted in quarterly base with the forum members.
